Client, Rights and Obligations

What treatment are you entitled to

As a member of the Cyprus Psychologists’ Association I conduct therapy session following the “Ethical Principles and Codes of Conduct”, as detailed in the Cyprus Psychologists’ Association. You can find here http://www.cypsa.org.cy/main/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/CYPSA-ethics-code.pdf.

Additionally in my practice I follow the Ethical Guidelines given by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Association, as detailed here http://www.efpa.eu/ethics/ethical-codes.

In general, the client-therapist interaction is based on the fact that, clients have the right to require confidentially and to be treated with respect and dignity by their therapist. Moreover, they have the right to actively participate in discussions regarding their treatment plan and to be informed about the treatment approach by their therapist. Clients also have the right to terminate therapy if are not satisfied from their therapist or if they feel that therapy is not needed anymore.

In addition to the above, clients are requested to be on time for their appointment since their delay might interfere with their appointment. If they wish to cancel an appointment it is recommended to inform their therapist in advance, preferably 24 hours befor. Furthermore, clients are strongly urged to ask questions or clarifications if something is not clear in regards to their treatment.
